Water well , geological and mining drilling

FORACO is a specialist in deep and shallow water well drilling, searching for drinking water, irrigation water or industrial water.

FORACO is also carrying out large scale rural water drilling programmes, using highly specialised drilling techniques to access mineral water with extreme sanitary protection, or drilling large diameter wells in urban or suburban environments to supply populations in accordance with the strictest standards.

FORACO has thorough experience of the whole range of techniques used in water drilling, as well as the techniques involved in inspection, servicing and rehabilitation of existing wells, enabling it to offer its clients an integrated package of services.

FORACO’s main areas of excellence in water well drilling are
: Exploration drilling for water or scientific and industrial purposes, Production wells et Inspection, Rehabilitation, Maintenance.

Exploration drilling for water or scientific and industrial purposes

This involves detecting the presence of the water resource and determining its qualitative and quantitative properties. For this purpose, FORACO has developed reverse circulation drilling techniques which enable us to recognise the nature of the geological formations encountered, to detect each of the aquifers and to measure accurately the quality of the water and the flows available.

This method can be applied to depths of up to about 300 m, with a diameter of 6"1/2 at the hole bottom. Beyond these depths (up to 1000 m) FORACO uses more conventional methods (rotary, down hole hammer or core boring) to achieve the same objectives. FORACO technical expertise means it can equip the resulting wells and provide the instrumentation needed to understand and manage the resource. FORACO carries out all the in situ measurements needed to evaluate a well, including bore-hole logging (instant logs and postprocessed), gamma ray, single electrode or focused resistivity, spontaneous polarization, micro-current meter, and physical/chemical analysis. Foraco has seven machines specialised in fast, small diameter exploration drillings.

Production wells

FORACO’s record includes over ten thousand water production wells in all geological formations, particularly in the most difficult areas (e.g. basalts and karst networks, torrential alluvium, moraine deposits, etc.).

Foraco operates at diameters ranging from 6"1/2 to 42" and to depths of up to 2000 metres, and uses the full range of drilling methods applicable to this sector.

FORACO supplies its clients with complete installations ready for production, with their hydrodynamic characteristics accurately determined during test programmes.

Depending on the use of the installation, FORACO offers a large scale of equipment in the bore holes, from an entire PVC installation to stainless steel, including metal telescopic casing tubing’s of different diameters with dielectric connections that assure a maximal galvanic protection.

FORACO has developed its own original method for hydraulically fracturing rocks which minimises the proportion of dry bore-holes and so gives its clients the best possible return on investment. Using its expertise and experience, FORACO also carries out turnkey operations, thus reducing the interfacing costs considerably, whether for single wells or for large scale development programmes. FORACO owns a fleet of 20 machines for production drilling operated by a team of local and international specialists.

Inspection, Rehabilitation, Maintenance

As part of its ambition to offer to it's clients a complete service, FORACO has developed a well inspection, rehabilitation and maintenance operation, particularly attractive for well field managers. Each bore-hole undergoes video inspection and various measurements are made using the most modern equipment; working in collaboration with its client, FORACO establishes an accurate diagnosis resulting in the installation being either refurbished or abandoned. The data are all stored and interpreted using database type software and summary reports are generated automatically.

Foraco uses the most efficient refurbishment methods and equipment, from simple cleaning followed by physical or chemical treatments where required (brushing, jet tool, acid treatment, hexametaphosphates, etc.) and ranging up to stimulation by fracturing or installing new screens with integrated filter packs.

Finally, where the client wishes, Foraco carries out preventive and corrective maintenance of complete well fields using innovative contractual devices.

Foraco has seven spreads specialising in servicing water bore-holes.
