FORACO also
carries out drilling programmes at all latitudes and altitudes,
from preliminary exploration to pre-production and reserve geometry
determination.
FORACO operates on opencast or underground sites and up to drilling
depths exceeding 2000 metres, with drill angles ranging from
the vertical to the horizontal. |
 |
 |
FORACO has large skills in all drilling
techniques, and can offer its clients any of the following methods:
|
|
 |
Rotary Air
Blast (RAB)
A simple and economical technique suitable for use at depths
of 0 to 100 metres with a maximum diameter of 146 mm.
Foraco has three compact machines specialised in RAB, all mounted
on tracked vehicles in order to minimise the work needed to
provide access. |
Reverse Circulation
| This technique was developed
by Foraco during the 1970s. Its range
is 0 to 250 metres, with usual diameter 5''1/2. Foraco has
9 machines capable of carrying out RC drilling, mounted on
either 6-wheel or 4-wheel drive trucks or on tracked vehicles.
Foraco also uses booster compressors which enable it to operate
at 50 bars and so increase the drilling speed and achieve
greater depths in aquifers.

Diamond core drilling, conventional or wireline
 |
 |
Foraco's decades of experience
have made it an expert in this delicate technique and permits
a recovery rate close to 100%.
At the demand of its clients, Foraco also carries out core
orientation measurements and trajectory verification. The
range of use is 0 to 2000 metres with diameters ranging between
SQWL and BQWL and all slopes from vertical up to horizontal.
Foraco has 18 machines capable of carrying out core drilling,
mounted on 6-wheel or 4-wheel drive trucks, on tracked vehicles,
or skid-mounted. |
Mixed
drilling (Destructive plus core drilling)
In many cases, the client has no particular interest in the
initial geological layers.
Foraco has therefore developed a mixed drilling method, using
the same rig, which allows the barren layer to be drilled using
RC and then to core drill the target horizons. |

Air flush core drilling
 |
 |
This is conventional diamond
core drilling but for which the drilling fluid consists in
air saturated with liquid additives.
FORACO offers this technique where the supply of water poses
a problem or the terrain type lends itself to the technique.
The range of use is 0 to 200 metres and the maximum diameter
is SQW. |

Air Jet
Air Jet is an easy and fast destructive core drilling technique
that permits to
obtain efficient and cheap sampling cores in terrains with soft
or middle
hardness.
